Issue Position: Transforming Our Politics

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

In 2008, President Barack Obama ran a political campaign that called on the better angels of our nature. He inspired us with a message of hope and change. But sadly, due to the egotism and intransigence of Democrats and Republicans alike, American politics have remained mired in division and dysfunction. What America needs now is cooperation and goodwill in Washington and on main-street; between white, black, Latino and Asian; between liberals, moderates and conservatives; between Democrats, independents, Libertarians and Republicans; between rich and poor, young and old. The age old adage that you must "love your neighbor as you love yourself" must guide our politics. Love is the root of a thriving civil society. It is what I will bring to the 43rd district, and to Washington D.C.
